RezOvation Desktop Update Instructions

 

NOTES:

For users updating RezOvation on a Network Installation (2 or more computers), see the instructions under "Updating a Network Installation" below.

For users of the Booking Engine, see the "Booking Engine SOAP Install" instructions after you install the update.

Are you receiving an updates expired message when downloading an update? Please see the updates FAQ for assistance.

 

Updating an Individual Installation of RezOvation Desktop (running on 1 computer):

Step 1:
Close all programs except RezOvation Desktop.

Step 2:
Make sure you are connected to the Internet.

Step 3:
Open RezOvation Desktop and click on "Help" and then choose "Support -> Download RezOvation Update". RezOvation Desktop will download the latest update to your computer. This may take a while if you have a slow internet connection.

NOTES:

  • If you get a warning saying your update contract has expired, you may need to purchase or authorize your update subscription. Please go to the unlock code page on this site to obtain a new code.
  • If you get a connection error message, please check your Internet and/or firewall settings. You may need to temporarily disable your firewall and/or grant our RezOvation program access to the Internet. Please consult your firewall documentation for more details.

    Step 4:
    After the download is complete, exit RezOvation Desktop. Make sure you actually close the program - do not just minimize it.

    Step 5:
    When you close the program, it will ask you if you want to make a backup. Choose "Yes" and save this backup to a safe location (your hard drive, another computer, a ZIP disc, a USB Flash drive, or burn it to a CD.)

    NOTE: Please refer to the RezOvation Help File for more information on making a backup of your database.

    Step 6:
    Assuming that RezOvation is installed in the default location (C:\Program Files\RezOvation), answer "Continue", "OK", or "Yes" to all the screens that appear after you've closed RezOvation Desktop and made your backup. If RezOvation is installed in a different directory, you will need to extract the program and reports updates to the directory you've installed it to.

    Step 7:
    You will be prompted to install the "SOAP Toolkit". Choose the option to either Install or Repair. NOTE: This is a required step if you have the Booking Engine. Please see the "SOAP Install" instructions below.

    Step 8:
    Reopen RezOvation Desktop. The version number should read 2005.1.1. You can also confirm the version number by selecting Help > About from the menu in RezOvation.

    NOTE: If you receive an error "35602" when launching RezOvation, click OK, log in, then exit RezOvation. Open RezOvation again and the error should not appear. This occurs because you did not follow the install procedures, and the Reports table in RezOvation was not properly updated. However, RezOvation will automatically correct this error when you reload it.

     

    Updating a Network Installation of RezOvation Desktop (running on 2 or more computers connected to the same database):

    Step 1:
    Determine which machine is your RezOvation database server. Have all other users exit RezOvation Desktop.

    NOTE: If you are unsure which machine is your database server, please do the following:

  • On each computer, open RezOvation and select File > Network Path.
  • At the top you should see an entry that says "Current:", followed by the path information. If the path reads "C:\Program Files\RezOvation\" (or any other path beginning with a "C:\") then this computer is most likely the database server. If instead the path reads "R:\" or "\\SERVERNAME\RezOvation\" then this computer is most likely the client or remote computer.
  • If you are still not sure which machine is the database server, then please contact your system administrator or technical support.

    Step 2:
    On the RezOvation database server, complete steps 1-6 as described above in "Updating an Individual Installation of RezOvation Desktop (running on 1 computer)".

    NOTE: DO NOT reopen RezOvation on your database server yet. ALL machines need to be updated before you reopen the program.

    Step 3:
    On each additional client machine, complete steps 1-6 as described above in "Updating an Individual Installation of RezOvation Desktop (running on 1 computer)".

    Step 4:
    Once all the computers have been updated return to the database server and launch RezOvation Desktop (Please wait patiently for any database updates to complete.)

    Step 5:
    After you have signed onto RezOvation Desktop from the database server you may then start RezOvation Desktop on the other client computers.

     

    Booking Engine SOAP Install

    NOTE: If the SOAP install did not launch automatically, you must launch it manually. See below for instructions.

    1. The SOAP install should be launched for you automatically. If it is not launched automatically, launch it on each computer by doing the following:
      Click on the Start button and select Run.
      In the box, type:
      C:\Program Files\RezOvation\soapsdk.exe
    2. Click "YES" to the "Install SOAP Toolkit" dialog.
    3. Click Next.
    4. Accept the terms of the License Agreement, and click Next.
    5. Enter a User Name and Organization. It does not matter what information you enter.
    6. Click Install.
    7. Click Finish.
