What is the history behind the RezOvation split into RezOvation and RezStream?

Get a better product at RezOvation, and save tens of thousands of dollars over RezStream. RezStream customers can now switch back, as of May, 2006.  In 2002, Eric Goldreyer, the original founder of BedandBreakfast.com, purchased BedandBreakfast.com and Munsenware from WorldRes, rescuing both companies from the difficult WorldRes financial situation. Eric's purchase allowed innkeepers to enjoy ongoing support and upgrades to the original Guest Tracker software. Unfortunately, the basic platform for Guest Tracker was obsolete, requiring a complete rewrite to be compatible with current and future technology platforms. Eric decided to merge Munsenware with RezOvation in the hopes of producing the best property management software available to the industry. In 2003, Eric became the majority owner of the newly formed RezOvation; Bill Mitchell and Alan Whittern ran the company as a separate business.

During this period, RezOvation Desktop was enhanced and became a leading PMS solution. The software was modified to import Guest Tracker data, and some Guest Tracker features were added. Rather than developing an updated version of Guest Tracker, it was decided that further modifications would be made to the RezOvation software. By early 2005, these modifications were not complete. Small- to mid-sized properties were not getting appropriate attention, and the needs of former Guest Tracker users were not being met. Service metrics such as call-waiting times and dropped calls were not satisfactory. It was time to make RezOvation more customer-friendly and responsive.

In April 2005, Eric gave Alan and Bill a waiver on their contracts, enabling them to leave RezOvation and form a new PMS company called RezStream, focusing on larger properties. The terms for the split with RezStream required them to complete implementation on a number of Guest Tracker features and to fix a number of product bugs.

In the last year we have vastly improved service, product performance, and reliability for RezOvation customers. We now deliver top-notch support, an enhanced Booking Engine, and a new PMS, designed for users of Munsenware's Guest Tracker. As of May, 2006, we are able to work with all of the larger, more diverse properties that have been asking to work with us over the past year. We are pleased to be able to offer our products and services to properties of any size that want to work with the new RezOvation!

What does this mean for me?

As a RezOvation customer, you will receive superior support from our dedicated support team and will be able to use innovative and reliable products produced by our experienced programming staff.  As a RezStream customer, you can switch back to RezOvation at any time. You will also see RezOvation focus on developing products and services specifically for our core customers, the B&B and inn market. Although we are focused on the small lodgings industry, larger properties continue to use and like RezOvation products as well. In addition, new products like RezOvation GT are designed to be flexible and extensible, and work well for all kinds of businnesses.

Is anything changing with regard to the RezOvation Booking Engine? Will I still be able to receive online bookings?

The Booking Engine is an important part of our product line and will continuously be improved as we implement new features. We learned first-hand from selling rooms directly to consumers on our industry-leading BedandBreakfast.com website. Click here for information on our new flat-rate pricing options.

Yes, you will continue to receive the online reservation services that you have in the past. But as we continue to make improvements, you will see more and more online reservations.

What is Eric Goldreyer's involvement with RezOvation?

Eric continues as the CEO of RezOvation, and has no relationship or affiliation with RezStream.

What does the RezOvation team look like?

Our full-time expert programming staff is led by the same folks who run and manage the technology behind the BedandBreakfast.com website, which receives over one million unique visitors monthly. Rest assured we know e-commerce. We also have two full-time quality assurance testers, two product managers, four support experts, and two sales people. This is not a part-time job for our employees; it is their full-time dedicated career.

What if I am still using Guest Tracker?

Say hello to RezOvation GT!   The innovative new product for based in part on Munsenware Guest Tracker has been released!  In addition, during the summer of 2005, RezOvation launched a sweeping functionality update to bring a number of tools from Guest Tracker into RezOvation Desktop 2006.

Guest Tracker 3.5 will continue to be supported by RezOvation on a per-incident basis. In addition, you can obtain an unlock code at any time for your licensed copy of Guest Tracker. Click here for more information.

What changes can I expect to see at RezOvation?

ELG Hospitality, the parent company of RezOvation, BedandBreakfast.com, and Inns.com, continues to devote itself to provide the best customer experience and products available in the bed and breakfast market. With this in mind, RezOvation has released new documentation, implemented a better customer management system, and provided other resources to help you run your business more efficiently. We will be emailing all RezOvation customers on a regular basis to keep you up-to-date on new improvements.

What are some of the product highlights at RezOvation over the past year, and what can I expect to see in the coming months?

A few things include:

  • A two-way GDS link has been implemented enabling greater functionality with the GDS systems.
  • A new version of the RezOvation Booking Engine was launched in the fall of 2005 with upgraded security features and 600% better speed to make your website fly.
  • Our new RezOvation GT software has been released and is the easiest software to use since Munsenware Guest Tracker was around!
  • A new website was launched and includes access to new documentation, video training modules, and updated FAQs.
  • Numerous functionality updates and bug fixes have been launched throughout 2005 and will continue throughout 2006.
  • A new internal customer resource management (CRM) system was launched in the fall of 2005 which allows us to track and resolve your issues efficiently.
  • A full user's guide for RezOvation Desktop was released in the fall of 2005.
  • Easy access to Guest Tracker and RezOvation unlock codes from our website was made available in the fall of 2005.
