I'm getting error 10055 when I try to send e-mail. What could cause that?

Overview
Although the Guest Tracker e-mail interface is limited to sending e-mail, it is still possible for it to be tripped up by third-party programs that take over the Windows e-mail or Dial-Up Networking settings. At this point we have only seen the message "Error 10055: E-mail setup and connect" on systems that have McAfee Personal Firewall installed, but it is possible that there may be other firewall programs that cause similar difficulties.
Possible Solutions
1) Disable the firewall software before trying to send e-mail.

With most firewall programs, disabling them removes any barrier that the program has installed. Please note that Guest Tracker has not had any success sending e-mail with McAfee Personal Firewall, even if the firewall has been disabled.

2) Uninstall the firewall software.

Totally removing the software is one way of being sure that it won't conflict. If you choose to remove your firewall program, try either getting a different program (such as Norton's Firewall software, which does not appear to have the same conflicts) or investing in a hardware firewall solution. A hardware firewall is usually the better solution, and prices for a good firewall router start at about the same level as a firewall program.

3) Use an outside e-mail program that is not affected by the firewall.

Most firewall programs ignore or otherwise work with major e-mail packages (such as Outlook or Eudora). If you are able to send e-mail from your regular e-mail client you can use this workaround.

Rather than e-mailing your form letter from Guest Tracker, preview it. Inside the preview you can click EDIT and then COPY ALL WITH DATA. This captures your text and variable information to the Windows clipboard. Switch to your e-mail client and open a new e-mail. Right-click in the body of the letter and then click PASTE. Your copied preview now appears in the new letter. Send it normally. Close the preview Window in Guest Tracker. If you do not wish to save a unique copy of the previewed letter, adding a correspondence item that shows when you sent your e-mail and what it is that was sent may be advisable.
