Tracker provides a quick way to find specific people in your database
that is often overlooked. The following procedure can be utilized
in the Reservations Section as well as the People Section. |
| Step
by Step |
| 1.) |
Go
to the ALL People Section. |
| 2.) |
Type
in the first few letters of the last name of the person you are
searching for. Do not hit the ENTER key! |
| |
NOTE:
At this point it looks as if there is no place to type. Despite
the fact that the main screen looks static, it is always waiting
for user input. When you start typing, a field will appear in the
bottom left hand corner of your window (next to the magnifying
glass in the following picture).

|
| 3.) |
Wait
for a few moments to see your results in the main window. Now you
can quickly scan your results to see if the person is already in
the database.

|
| NOTE:
The more letters you type in, the more specific your search will
be and thus fewer results will be shown. However, typing more letters
increases your chances of a misspelling.
The fewer letters you type, the
more broad your search will be and thus more results will appear.
By typing just the first 2 or 3 letters, you will reduce your
risk of misspelling and increase your chances of finding what
you are looking for. Also, wildcards are useful (the * will
match any number of characters and the ? will
match any single character).
|
For instance, if you know someone's
first name and the first letter of their last name but you can't
remember how to spell the last name (say John N.) you could type "n*john" as
in the following pictures.
|
 |
 |
Another example, you know their
last name is Anderson but you don't know if it's Anderson, Andersen,
Andersin, etc. Type "anders?n" to
show any of these names as in the following pictures or just "and" to
show anyone whose name starts with those letters as in the first
example above.
