What do I need to do to use Guest Tracker on my local area network?

Local Area Networks

NOTE: The Remote workstation is set up identically no matter how many users there are. Each Remote workstation has the program files loaded locally and points to the database on the Server workstation.

Overview
In order to run Guest Tracker on multiple machines on a Local Area Network, you must install Guest Tracker on each machine that you want to use Guest Tracker. Each of those machines must have at least one common network drive mapped so that a single common database can be opened at each of the workstations. With this type of setup, the Guest Tracker executable file is local to each workstation and one database is accessed over the network by each of those workstations. Also, each workstation must have a valid license in order for them to access the database simultaneously.
Step-By-Step
1.) Install Guest Tracker on the server workstation (See Chapter 1 in the Users Manual). This process will use the license code from the four-disk set. This means that the server will be licensed properly, but any computer you install those four disks on, other than reinstalling on this one, will not be licensed.

NOTE: At this point, Guest Tracker is ready to go on the server workstation. Unless you changed the installation drive:\directory during installation, the Guest Tracker files will be stored in C:\Tracker. This is the drive:\directory that each of the remote workstations must be able to access due to the fact that Tracker.MDB in this folder will be your database.

2.) Install Guest Tracker on the first remote workstation. You must call RezOvation to obtain a valid license code for each remote workstation.
3.) Map a drive on this workstation to the drive mentioned in Step 1 (Should be C:\ on the Server Workstation).
4.) Open Guest Tracker.
5.) Click on the File menu option.
6.) Click on Open Database from the drop down menu.
7.) Select the network drive that you mapped in Step 3 from the "Drives:" drop down list. If it is not appearing, the drive has not been mapped properly and Step 3 must be repeated.
8.) Select the Tracker folder from the "Folders:" list directly above the "Drives:" drop down.
9.) At this point you should see tracker.mdb in the list of files underneath the "File Name:" text box.
10.) Click on the tracker.mdb file so that it appears in the "File Name:" text box.
11.) Click OK to open the database.
12.) Click on the Exit button to close Guest Tracker down. This will create an initialization file which will remember which database you were in last and open that database every time you use Guest Tracker at this location.
13.) Repeat Steps 2-12 for each remote workstation. NOTE: Make sure that you use a different license update disk for each workstation in Step 3. Each license update disk can only be used to license one machine.

Helpful Tips:

If you are not sure which database you have setup on a particular work station, click on the File menu in Guest Tracker and select the Database Info option from the drop down list. This will give you the drive, directory, and name of the database you are currently using and the number of users that this particular workstation is licensed for.

If you ever receive the following error: "Error 68, Device Unavailable," you have lost your network connection. Solution: Check to make sure that the network drive you are trying to connect to is still mapped properly.
