| Overview |
| When you try to enter Guest
Tracker after a system crash, power surge, or other problem, you may
get the following (or similar) error message:
Guest Tracker was not able to perform the normal exit routines
and the program thinks that another user is still accessing the
database.
|
| Solution |
| It is easy to resolve this
issue by running Database Utilities Verify and Compact as described
on Pages 294 and 295 of the Guest Tracker User's Guide. It is
highly recommended that you run Verify and Compact whenever the computer
system crashes while you are in Guest Tracker. |
| Procedure |
| 1) |
If you have not already done
so, click the OK button to clear the error message from the screen. |
| 2) |
Start the Guest Tracker Database
Utilities program as shown below.
|
| 3) |
From the Guest Tracker Database
Utilities window, click the Verify button.
|
| 4) |
The name of your current Guest
Tracker database is displayed in the filename field. Verify that
this is the correct database, and then click the OK button to proceed
with the verification.
|
| 5) |
When the verification is complete
a status message is displayed. Click the OK button.
|
| 6) |
If you get an error while running
Verify, check the VERIFY ERRORS section
below before continuing. |
| 7) |
Now you are ready to compact
the database. From the Database Utilities window, click the Compact
button.
|
| 8) |
The name of your current Guest
Tracker database is displayed in the filename field. Click the OK button
to proceed with the compaction.
|
| 9) |
When the compaction is complete,
you will be offered an opportunity to save a backup copy of your database.
Click the Yes button to proceed if you wish to save the backup copy.
Click the No button to proceed if do not wish to save the backup copy.
|
| 10) |
You are done
verifying and compacting your Guest Tracker database. Click
the Exit button to quit the Database Utilities program. You
should now be able to get into Guest Tracker normally.

Verify
Errors |
| 1) |
If you get an error while running
Verify, the error you are most likely to see first is
Error 3049: Is corrupted or is not a Microsoft Access Database.
This message can be ignored. Click OK. |
| 2) |
If Verify continues with no
further errors, you should continue with the Compact utility. |
| 3) |
If a second error is produced,
note the error and follow the matching instructions below. |
| 4) |
Error 3051: This indicates
a hard drive problem which can usually be solved by following these
steps:
- Exit out of all programs (including Guest Tracker) and restart
your computer.
- When the computer is back to the desktop, run the Microsoft
Windows Scandisk program. Allow it to repair any errors it finds.
- Run verify and Compact again, following the instructions laid
out above.
|
| 5) |
Error 3049 or 3056: Your database
is corrupted beyond repair. Restore from your backup disks, then run
Verify and Compact as described above before trying to open Guest Tracker. |
| 6) |
All Others: If you get a different
error message, you will want to contact a
Guest Tracker Support Representative for instructions on how to proceed. |
