Q: We're redecorating one of our guest rooms. How can I designate this in Desktop so that we don't book the room until it's ready?
A: In some cases you may need to block a room out of service due to repairs, because your inn is closed, or because you want to selectively book rooms for certain dates (e.g. during a special event). There are two ways to mark a room out of service: 1) block from the occupancy map (best when blocking a single room for a short period, or two or more rooms for a short period), or 2) block by picking a date range (best when blocking all rooms or a single room for a long period). "How many times have I spoken to guests on the phone but for the life of me can't put a face with the name? I've also had return guests who all come in at one time, and I can't remember who's who.
"Then I discovered a little button on my Rezovation screen that said Photos. I clicked it, and a whole new world of guest recognition opened up for me. I realized I could download pictures on my computer and put whatever photo I wanted in there. Now I take pictures with my digital camera of all of my guests while they are here and offer to email them a copy. Whenever a guest calls or checks in, I know exactly who it is.
